CNW ADULT TEAMS GRAB A CLEAN SWEEP

CNW ADULT TEAMS GRAB A CLEAN SWEEP

Your Committee22 Nov - 19:31

17 goals scored, 8 of which by under 19s and just one goal conceded (thanks to the men’s 1s!).

A rare occasion, but one to celebrate with all adult teams winning this week. 17 goals scored, 8 of which by under 19s and just one goal conceded (thanks to the men’s 1s!).

With the Ladies 2s having a bye week, it was down to the ladies 1s this week. And they delivered, winning 4-0, featuring 5 under 18s went away to Solihull Bloss. In what was a commanding win, it could have been more with them hitting the post three times too. Player of the match, of course, goes to an under 18 who was graceful enough to share it with Clare.

With around 10 regular men’s players on holiday, 6 illness cry off’s in the week, general unavailability issues and an umpire dilemma it was remarkable to get three teams out, let alone win all three, but stand in men’s club captain Ed Close managed to herd players to each team. (Just the four goals for him this weekend)

Shoutouts go to;

Roman: who stepped in to umpire rather than play for the men’s 2s, so much was the confidence he had in the back four to keep a clean sheet without a keeper.

Ben Maxwell: who always leaves it to two minutes before the pushback to arrive. He kept captain Sam Edwards on his toes, but eventually made his way to Belper to put in a man of the match performance with a goal and an assist for the men’s 1st team.

Richardson: for playing his first men’s game ever, scoring a goal in an emphatic 8-0 win and bagging man of the match.

Here’s hoping to a more relaxed week upcoming for selection, and thanks go to all those players who have been supporting the committee behind the scenes, they know who they are.

We remind all our players and parents the committee are all volunteers who spend hours each day chasing players, organising training and making the club the best they can. Here’s to them, and your support for them.

Ps, please accept selection asap and show some flexibility where needed.
